Crier

The news of the day is delivered by the criers, whose booming voice is a fixture of civilized society. They are usually paid by the local authorities and trade guilds. Crier is an important role that can be a lifetime position. Small towns only have a crier or two. Larger communities may employ a half dozen or more. Murgulmuir has dozens.

A town crier can pitch their voice so they can be heard clearly even over the hubbub of a busy market square. Few can match the volume and clarity they are able to achieve.

Feature: News of the Day

It only takes a Crier an hour to get an overview of current events by talking to locals. This is possible even in settlements they have never visited before as long as the local customs are familiar.

Characteristics

Most people are glad to meet a town crier and value the news they bring. It is a job that is both respected and respectable.
Some criers aren’t particular about what stories they share or where they come from. These disreputable individuals are soon found out and may face serious consequences.
