Translator

The many peoples of Murgulmuir use many different languages. The services of those who can translate from one of these languages to another are always in demand, especially by diplomats and merchants.
Translation is a literate pursuit which is seen as the purview of the privileged so those who want to work in the field must learn how to present themselves so they can be accepted by the upper class.

Skill Proficiencies: History, Insight
Language Proficiencies: Any two languages spoken in the city of your choice

Equipment

Fine clothes, book (language reference), 10 sheets of parchment, quill and ink, 6 candles, flint and steel, pouch with 50gd.

Feature: Cram

A translator can learn enough of a language by studying for a week to translate using a language reference. Only one language at a time can be learned this way. If a new language is learned by cramming a new language reference is needed (they cost about 50 gold) and use of the old one is lost.
Most translators find work translating between languages they already know but cramming is useful when a job presents itself for which they would otherwise not be qualified.

Characteristics

Translators are a rarified breed. They can do very well for themselves but not everyone can do it. It takes more than knowing two languages. It takes patience and insight to ensure that nothing is lost in translation and the true meaning is delivered.
